NVMeoF Done Easy

With the announcement of Paladian’s composable NVMeoF Storage Manager (PSM), setting up hyperconverged storage with industry leading performance has never been easier. Many in the storage press have been pointing to the slow uptake of NVMeoF in the industry and with good reason. While the technology offers the opportunity to create remote NVMe storage enclosures which present block storage as though directly attached to your application servers, working your way through all the technical details to set systems up properly and deciding how to manage them is more of a headache then most administrators have time for – which transport to use, how to set up access, getting the ports right, failover, SNMP, which network interface card should you use, where to put SSDs to maximize performance, etc.

NVMeoF is a fantastic technology if you are a propeller head but to use it as a cluster solution you do not want to spend weeks figuring out how to set it up and then add tools to manage it. PSM offers you a complete storage solution like you would get buying an expensive, proprietary enterprise storage solution, without all the cost and upselling. Best of all, you can select the infrastructure and operating systems you are comfortable with so you can minimize the number of vendors to deal with. Later, as you want to store older data in the cloud to manage your costs or create disaster recovery sites PSM will help you set this up.

PSM does all the heavy lifting so you can focus on your applications and how to best allocate storage. It provides a REST API and CLI to interface with your enclosures, access control and authentication, a comprehensive GUI to visually see how your storage is connected and performing, and health monitors with alerts so you can rest assured your storage systems are working flawlessly. With PSM, subsystems are set up automatically and subsystem identification can be handled by tracking the drive slot rather than trying to remember a long and opaque NQN value.  When you need to set subsystem connections to ports and allowed hosts, PSM allows you to make these connections with one command. It also tracks the usage of SSDs so you can decide when to add storage or additional enclosures well before it is critical. Hot swapping SSDs between enclosures is simple once you pause your applications. Your data and management interfaces are encrypted to protect your information in multi-tenant installations.

Once you have your storage connected, we also have white papers to help you decide how to set up data protection and environments for many common analytics and database applications. If you are interested, just create a contact request on our website and we will be glad to explain how NVMeoF can help your business.
